Leah Flavell on social media, dating and industry tips

Leah Flavell from Devoted To Pink has kindly answered some questions on what it is really like to be a #GirlBoss. From dating disasters to core make-up products, this award-winning blogger has the answers!


One: What is something that not many people know about you?

Don’t hate me, BUT…. I used to be petrified of dogs, and I mean petrified. I would see a dog on TV and get upset as a child. I would make my Mum cross the road if there was a dog on the same side of the road as us. I wouldn’t even go round to a friends’ house if they had a dog, so I missed out a lot. I’m not sure what’s happened, but I’ve literally been cured and now I love them! Well, the cute small ones anyway! A big dog still scares me!

Two: What happens on a typical day off?

What is a day off? Seriously, I know I work too much- so the first thing I would need if it was to happen would be to sleep, have a bath and watch some TV! After that I’d want to spend time with my friends and family. 

Three: Who are you most proud to have worked with?

From a blogging perspective, it has to be L’Oréal. To be asked to model for such an iconic worldwide brand was mind-blowing. Even to this day, I have to pinch myself. Like, did that really happen? 

Four: If you had to chuck all of your designer bags except one, which would that be?

At the moment I would say my Chloe Nile, as I’m using it pretty much every day. However, I know that will change… It’s not a classic bag. It may well change with an addition I just bought.

Five: What is your relationship/opinion on social media?

It's definitely a relationship of love and hate.

Six: Where is the best place to brunch?

There are so many good places in London, but I would say One Canada Square or Avenue in Mayfair. 

Seven: What makeup product is a necessity to your routine?

As my skin is so bad, it has to be foundation and MAC Studio Fix is a saviour. It’s full coverage and they produce a really pale colour (NC10), which I need for skin as pale as mine. It will always be in my makeup bag. 

Eight: What is your top tip for someone thinking of starting a business?

Employ staff that are better than you. I’m a firm believer that you are only as good as the staff you have working for you, so make sure you employ the best! 

Nine: Do you feel that you have sacrificed anything being such a #Girlboss?

Sadly, yes. I don’t see my friends or family as much as I should/would like to. The gym gets neglected far too regularly and I don’t have time for a date. 

Ten: What has been your most memorable dating experience?

I once got taken to a Chinese supermarket for a FIRST DATE. I kid you not. He filled the shopping trolley full of food, none of which was for me. Then paid for it and took me home.
