The Glass House, Atlow. From Business to Leisure.

The Glass House, Atlow is a wonderful scenic hideaway near to the Peak District, England. With many successful business ventures, the best breakfast and interior design inspiration- here is a little more. Janette and Steve, the hosts opened their Bed and Breakfast in just 2016.

1) What made you start your own business, The Glass House?

We have always enjoyed entertaining friends at the house. We love engaging in conversation and good company is a must. A bed and breakfast seemed a great way to take this forward.

2) How would you describe a stay at The Glass House?

Relaxing, and a much-needed getaway destination filled with personal touches. We hope the beautiful view from the bedroom window proves inspiring. We aim to make the guests feel special because they are to us.

3) When did you first become interested in interior design?

I (Janette) have been interested/obsessed with interior design since owning my first home. My two loves in life are interiors and flowers, I hope both are evident in our home.

4) We know you are interested in renovating properties, which renovation project are you most proud of?

I(J) am proud of all of our house renovation projects. We always aim to create something we could live in ourselves. I have a special attachment to the first cottage renovation in Belper and I still keep in touch with the lady who purchased it. It was a truly rewarding feeling. 

5) How do you like to start a typical morning off?

I (J) love to incorporate some exercise into my routine. A fast walk with a rucksack in the early morning is what ticks my box. It clears the mind, ready for a days adventure.

6) For those that stay at The Glass House, what would you recommend for them to do on a typical stay there?

Ashbourne is the lovely little artisan town nearby with a whole host of shops and cafes. Carsington Water is good for activities and idyllic scenery. Not to mention Chatsworth House known for its grandeur, style and events. 

7) What projects are you currently involved in?

We are always kept busy with house renovation projects and sales. Alongside this, the bed and breakfast. Myself (J) currently own a medical ultrasound company, being the director there.
